Sgt. Samuel Balla
Sgt. Samuel Balla

A mental health clinician and combat veteran, Sgt. Samuel Balla has served since the fall of 2015 as a clinical supervisor with Maryhaven Inc. He oversees two locations, one in each of Ohio’s Morrow and Delaware counties, and has navigated public funding systems in both counties to create a new clinical role. Mr. Balla has since integrated the position, officially titled Rapid Engagement Specialist, to provide potential new clients with a single point of contact who can provide immediate screening and direction toward appropriate types of assistance.

Mr. Balla has previously served as program manager for Southeast Inc., where he oversaw both a women’s and a men’s residential treatment facility. Responsible for staffing and clinical supervision as well as documentation of care, he also coordinated aspects of police crisis intervention training for officers in Columbus, Ohio.

Sgt. Balla comes to his career as an honorably discharged combat veteran of the US Marine Corps. He held his first clinical position with the Columbus Vet Center, where he treated clients with post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and related conditions while providing coordinated support to their families. He has remained involved in veterans’ services as former President and Chairman of the Board for Columbus’s Veterans First Foundation, a charity that provides clothing and furniture free of charge to veterans in need.
